Hosted video meetings
Hosted video meetings use an internet connection. Audio, video and any shared screen are sent to meeting participants. Solva’s meeting service creates the room and exchanges connection information. The host can record the meeting on their PC; participants see a recording notice.
Tell everyone involved before recording. The local speech recognition and recording information below describes what happens on your PC; it does not mean hosted meeting media stays on that PC.

What stays on your PC
Lori turns your voice into text on your own computer. These are kept on your PC, in your Windows account's own folders:
- Your dictation history and your words, snippets, scratchpad notes and usage figures.
- Recordings of your dictations, if "Keep recordings of my dictations" is on (it is at first). They power play back and retry. Lori deletes them after 120 days, and keeps at most 600.
- Meeting recordings, transcripts and notes. Meeting audio is deleted after 90 days; you can change that in Meetings settings. Transcripts and notes stay until you delete them.
- Your Anthropic API key, if you add one, stored encrypted so that only your Windows account can read it.
What can leave your PC
Local dictation turns speech into text on your PC. Connected features have separate data flows, described below.
- Claude extras, with your own Anthropic key.
- Rewrites and Say the change send the text you selected and your instruction.
- "Tidied by Claude" sends each dictation, your word list, your Writing style rules and up to 600 characters of the text box you are typing in (never a password box).
- Meeting summaries and Ask send the meeting's transcript and your notes.
- "Summary and to-dos automatically", if you turn it on, sends every meeting when it ends and any older meeting that has no summary yet; for calendar meetings in the next 24 hours it also sends the title, time and attendee names with the notes and open to-dos of up to three related earlier meetings.
- Anthropic is a company based in the USA, and the text is handled under your own agreement with them.
- Say the change web searches. "Search Google for..." and similar open that website in your browser, with the words you spoke and any selected text in the web address.
- A calendar link, if you paste one: Lori downloads that calendar to name your recordings.
- Anonymous usage counts, off unless you turn them on. Once a day, with no words, audio or names: a random install ID made on your PC, the Lori version, the speech engine, the Windows build, the date, and counts such as how many dictations you made and how long they took to process. They go to The Solva Group.
What The Solva Group receives
- Update checks. About twice a day Lori asks thesolvagroup.com whether a newer version exists, and downloads it if there is one. The request carries nothing about you or your work, beyond what any web request shows, such as your internet address.
- Usage counts, only if you turn them on (above).
- A problem report, only if you email it to us. Report a problem makes a zip on your Desktop with Lori's logs and settings. It holds no recordings, transcripts or dictated words, and private settings are blanked. The log does name meeting recordings and files.
We do not see your dictations, recordings, transcripts, notes or your Anthropic key.
Recording other people
Lori records your microphone and the sound your PC plays, so a meeting recording includes the other people in it. Tell everyone at the start that you are recording, and stop if anyone does not agree. The rules on recording conversations are different in each state and territory, and Lori cannot ask anyone for permission on your behalf. Lori shows a reminder before your first recording and every time one starts.
Deleting everything
Uninstall Lori from Windows Settings, Apps. It asks whether to delete your notes, word list and settings too. Choose Yes to remove them from your PC.
